Licensing and Deployment Essentials

Cisco Secure Client-AnyConnect is designed exclusively for Cisco headend customers with active Plus, Apex, or VPN Only licenses. It requires a Cisco ASA running boot image 8.0.4 or later. The Umbrella security feature needs a separate Umbrella license. Administrators can obtain trial licenses from Cisco’s licensing portal. End users should contact their organization’s IT support for configuration issues, while system administrators can reach Cisco’s designated support channels for deployment assistance.

Practical Usage and Workflow

After installation, users connect to their corporate gateway by entering a server address provided by their IT department. The app supports a wide range of authentication methods, including certificates deployed via SCEP or URI import. Once connected, internal IPv4 and IPv6 resources become accessible. The diagnostics screen helps troubleshoot connectivity, though some freezes have been reported on that screen. Users can send feedback directly through the app’s menu under Diagnostics > Send Logs, including a description of the issue.

Known Limitations and Compatibility

This package does not support filter support, trusted network detection, split exclude, or local LAN exception. The secure gateway web portal is inaccessible when the VPN tunnel is active. Split DNS is unavailable on Android 7.x and 8.x due to operating system restrictions. The app is compatible with Android 4.4 and above.
