For tablet users, the app offers a landscape format that allows swiping through the day's newspaper, viewing photo collections, graphics, and listening to podcasts. Offline reading is supported, and you receive notifications when a new edition is released.

Subscription Plans and Access

The de Volkskrant app is free to download. You can read seven complimentary articles per week on your smartphone without a subscription. On a tablet, you can browse the Edition but cannot read articles. Subscribers enjoy unlimited access to articles, the Digital Edition, and the digital version of the printed paper daily. If you are a subscriber, sign in through the app using your DPG Media account to access all content. Non-subscribers can choose from several digital subscription plans starting at a few euros per week, purchased through Google Play. Subscriptions renew automatically unless canceled 24 hours before renewal. You can manage or modify your subscription in the Google Play app under Subscriptions.

DPG Media Account and Device Limits

De Volkskrant is part of DPG Media, so a single DPG Media account lets you log in to other brands like NU.nl, AD, Trouw, and more. You can create an account via the provided link and link your subscription to activate digital access. To prevent account sharing, you can use your account on a maximum of three web browsers and/or devices with apps per day. For example, using the app on a phone, a tablet, and a browser on a laptop counts as three. If you use both a web browser and apps on the same device, it counts double. This limit helps ensure that your de Volkskrant subscription remains personal and secure.
